Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving! (Especially to my family on the other side of the country where it's still Thanksgiving for a few more hours :)

We had so much to be thankful for today :) Before my mom died, it was EASY to be thankful---everything was 'right in my world', if you know what I mean. But after losing her, I've got a little better grasp on how fragile life can be. I spent the whole day surrounded by family and loved ones, with more food than I even needed....and I wondered---would I be as thankful in a third world country where food is lacking and my ONLY 'blessings' for the day are my loved ones? Would I be as thankful if I were one of my many persecuted brothers and sisters in Christ? Hmmm....something to think about.

I asked Joel to take pictures today with his phone because that was easier than lugging around the camera everywhere. So, without further ado, here is our Thanksgiving, through the lens of my husband's camera ;)

This is my grandfather. We were only able to spend a little while with them this afternoon, but it was nice to be there.

Grandma with Reagan.

This lady on the right is my Aunt Faye. She was reminding me today how she used to call me 'Pipi Longstockings' when I was a little girl, I guess because of the long braids Mom would put in my hair :)

My cousin Sarah and her husband Ryan.

Cosette and Pap being goofy together.

After spending some time with my grandparents, we went to Joel's parents, where there was quite a house full :)  Here is Leanna, waiting patiently by a chair for her dinner. As soon as she heard us saying that 'dinner was soon', she ran to this chair and plopped herself down. Needless to say, she cleaned her plate :)

The spread. Turkey and mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole, stuffing, zucchini casserole, cranberry sauce and cranberry salad, rolls, olives.....

Joel's brother and his wife Amy

Siblings and spouses

The younger kids table

The slightly 'older' kids tables. If you hadn't noticed yet, all the cousins made an effort to dress alike tonight. Everybody was in navy blue and denim. What a cute idea----but it made it hard to pick out your own kid in the midst of children running around ;)

I know, he makes ME smile too ;)

These three cousins are all within a couple months of each other in age.

We're happiest together :)
