Be Still....

...don't worry that your baby boy is nursing longer than usual. Sit, and enjoy him. Feel his little nose pressed against you. When he stops to smile up at you, smile down at him too. Rub your hand against his soft little cheek, and smell his sweet head, the precious scent of baby lotion. Before you know it, he'll be running around and speaking in sentences.

Be Still...

...savor your tea for just a few more minutes. Read one more chapter from 1 Peter. Roll the words around in your mind, striving to be the person that God is challenging you to be through the words that Peter wrote. All the other things in your day can wait, but this, this is a precious time...

Be Still....

....don't get up yet to start dinner. Lay here on the floor a little longer, and build one more castle with the blocks. Watch the delight in your little boys eyes as he sees what a gifted builder his mommy is. Lock his sweet little smile into your memory. Rejoice when he wraps his arms around you and says "I wuv oo, Mommy"

Be Still....

....sit here at the table a little longer. Praise your little girl one more time, as she proudly shows you the page full of 'five's' that she just wrote all by herself. Look at them in admiration, and tell her that they are the best five's she's ever written. Enjoy the look of pride and contentment you see on her face, as she realizes that her mommy is truly proud of her.

Be Still...

....snuggle in the arms of your husband. You haven't seen him all day. Thank God that those strong arms wrapped around you worked hard all day to provide for you and your family. Think back to the days before you were married, and wonder how in the world you ever survived without this man.

Counting my blessings.....are you?

Well, even though I don't have kids and a husband, I still found this blog very inspiring. I have a lot to be thankful for, even in my single busy life. family, music, a home to go to and feel safe and at ease, friends, food, enough money to pay the bills, a cute little kitty and dog, a boyfriend with IMMENSE patience and love for me, a body that withstands the things I put it through, a God who loves me, a Savior who I can talk to anytime, anywhere, and so much more...thanks Jaime! :)

Love this post, Jaime! I recently looked up your blog and have enjoyed reading about your cozy home and adorable kids. We are just starting out on this path of child-rearing (Carter was born 7/17/08 - close to Noah!) and I want to savor and be grateful for every moment of it, as you encourage in this post. Check out pictures of our little guy on www.theboers.blogspot.com. Glad to hear you're doing so well! -Rachael (Cooper) Boer
