Somehow, my whole post didn't get published last time! I also meant to ask what everybody's opinion is on switching to the new blogger. Have you all found negatives or positives on it? Your opinions would be appreciated!
Have a Happy New Year!

Happy New Year (almost)

Just wanted to say hi to everybody. I haven't had much of a chance to update my blog over the holidays. We haven't been crazy busy or anything, but there have been normal holiday happenings keeping me away from the computer. We also had Cosette's Birthday party last night. She turned 'new' (meaning two). We had alot of people in our little house, and Cosette had a blast.

This and that

I wish I had time to post some pictures, as I have some really precious ones. But I don't, so I'll have to post them later :) Joel and I had a nice anniversary--we ate at City Lights. It was a new restaurant for us, we'd never eaten there before. It was pretty yummy. Their crab dip was especially good!
Cosette has been eagerly watching her Christmas stocking that we hung up the other day. If you ask her about the presents in it, she starts whispering a bunch of nonsence, because the presents that will go in the stocking are 'secrets' :) She also learned how to sing 'Twinkle Twinkle little star'--it sounds like this--'Binkle, Binkle, Binkle, Binkle, Binkle, Binkle, and so on and so forth :) Elias has learned how to shake his head no. He doesn't understand what it means yet, he just thinks its a fun thing to do. So now, if you grin and say hi to him, he grins back and starts violently shaking his head back and forth!
I am enjoying my new oven that Joel and I recently got. (No, not the one I caught on fire, a new one :) My old oven was about dead, even before I caught it on fire! Cosette likes the fact that she can see her face in the nice big window in the front of it.
Joel gets to be a wise-man in a skit at church. He is dreading wearing the classic bath-robe. I told him they should be modern day wise-men and wear a suit and tie--he said he suggested the idea, but nobody took him seriously :)
Cosette lost Joel's cell phone last night. We hunted everywhere for it. Joel said at one point that he would call it, but remembered that he had put it on silent! Finally, we got Cosette up out of bed to help us look, thinking she'd remember where she had put it. She didn't :( I finally found it---it was in our bedroom closet! Gee, why didn't we look there to begin with ? ;)
Well, that's all the 'this and that' I have time for right now. I will be trying to post some pictures sometime in the near future.

Three years ago today. Three very short years ago. And yet three very long years ago. Three years ago, Joel and I got married. Three years ago was the most joyful day of both of our lives. Three years ago we entered a life together. And since then, we've had two beautiful children join our lives as well. A wedding anniversary. A time to reflect, a time to remember, a time to look forward to the future, a time to rejoice...... a time to eat really good food in a nice restaurant and not feel guilty about it :) What a nice day!

Showers of blessings

We are having so much fun with the cold weather finally here! I love this picture of Cosette--it was her first real time to go out in the snow and play. She bundled all up and then went outside for about twenty mintues---which actually impressed me, considering how very cold it was at the time! Her main enjoyment came, however, not from playing in the snow, but from eating it. Yes, that's right. She would scoop up handfuls of snow, and gulp it down. She calls it 'yummy'. Elias watches from inside the front door, looking quite envious at his sister's good time.
We have also been enjoying having Cosette big enough this year to actually 'participate' in Christmas. She has been helping to decorate, bake cookies, hang Jesse tree ornaments, and just over-all add fun to our season. She and Elias are such joys to have around.
Joel and I were talking the other day, and realized that this is an extra-special time of year for us. Not only do we have the normal Advent and Christmas celebrations, which we are doing our best to make peaceful and meaningful for our family, but we also have our wedding anniversary, and Cosette's birthday, all in December. It's like one big celebration for us! Three of the most important times of the year for us all happen within four weeks. We have been walking around this month kind of with a dazed, happy look on our faces! We are so blessed! It was only a little over three years ago that we were dating, living in separate houses, and talking about the future. Now we have a home of our own, we each get to spend much of our time with the person we love most, and we have two beautiful children who keep us laughing all the time! What can I say?? God is good!!

My Sister (an incredibly lame attempt at a poem :)

Okay, I thought after that last post, I better try to make up with my sister, so I am calling this new post......

Ode To Kristin
1. My sister's really swell,
She's always there for me
Through the good times and the bad,
She's more faithful than I can tell
2. She gives her old clothes to me,
When spring-cleaning she does,
So I'm no longer stuck wearing
jeans with holes in the knee
(okay, so I don't really have holes in my jeans, but it rhymed!)
3. She watches my kids all the time,
And as far as I can see,
She never even gives a whine,
When their diapers are dirty as can be.
4. My children think she's everything,
She plays and reads book all night,
They laugh and hide and play and sing,
And never put up a fight
5. So folks, I'm sure that you can see,
Giant cookies and such aside,
That we really do make a wonderful pair,
My sister Kristin and me.

Holiday Tip #1

  • Never listen to your sister's advice about making a giant cookie......( sorry, Kristin... :)

Yes folks, that's right---this picture is of my oven on fire! And whose fault is it? My sisters! Okay, okay, so maybe I was the one who made the giant cookie a little too giant....but it was her suggestion in the first place :) :) Poor Joel, he walked up the sidewalk from a busy day at work, ready to come home to a peaceful house and smell dinner baking, and instead finds his oven on fire, and his wife, of all things, sitting in front of it taking pictures! But hey, it's all for the sake of blogging, right? :) ( I did make it up to him later, though, when I presented a plate of unburned, yummy cookies... :)

Laughs from the Curtis family

Here are just some of the things that have made life interesting around our house so far this holiday season:

  • Cosette now says "CHEESE" any time she wants her picture taken. We had no idea she knew how to say that!

  • Elias pulled my entire table runner and advent wreath down on his head today. I don't even know how he reached it! Cosette was more concerned that her baby doll was hurt than over the fact that Elias was screaming!

  • I actually tried a new cookie recipe and had it turn out successfully....we had to put them in the freezer so we wouldn't eat all of them!(okay, okay, we had to put them in the freezer so I wouldn't eat all of them...)

  • Joel has been doing an excellent job keeping out house warm with our new wood furnace.... it has been about eighty degrees in here every day this week, so Cosette has been running around listening to Christmas Carols in her diaper :)

  • Elias tried canned baby food beef the other goodness, what a face! (No, he did NOT like it :)

  • Cosette ate all of her dinner last night before the timer went off and got to have an oreo....hey, it's the little things that make life exciting!!

  • Eli tried to digest an entire bite of Cosette's chicken sandwich yesterday before I caught him. ( I declare, if this child grows up normal, we'll be counting our blessings! )

  • I mentioned at the dinner table that something had 'popped into somebody's head', and Cosette started rubbing her head and saying 'Ouch, ouch!"

Sometimes I wonder what in the world kept Joel and I entertained before we had children!
