Okay, I have a confession to make. I almost missed a big teachable moment. And it was all because I was in too big of a hurry. Here's how the story goes.......
It was a beautiful, warm fall day, and Cosette and Eli and I were getting ready to go to the library. I was carrying Eli in his carseat to the car, and Cosette was trailing along behind. I turned around, and saw that she had picked up a messy, dirty acorn. The acorn had a little shoot coming out of the top of it. She grinned and showed it to me. Aggravated that she had gotten all messy when we were trying to leave, I tossed the acorn on the ground and put her in the car. She looked up at me, confused and disappointed. And I thought "Ooops! Jaime, you goof! What have you done?" So, I turned around and started searching on the ground for the discarded acorn. The neighbors probably thought I was crazy! But, lo and behold, there it was! I picked it up, and proceeded to explain to Cosette (on a two year old level), how God makes the acorns grow into great big trees. Praise the Lord, the situation was redeemed, and this Mommy was a little wiser because of it :)

Ummm....Mom, this rice cereal is sooo good! Why haven't you given me any of this before? Umm..the rubber spoon tastes pretty yummy too!
Here is one interesting piece of wisdom I thought I'd share with everybody: Never leave a whole page of postage stamps out on the table when you have an almost two year old.....she may think they are stickers to be enjoyed! :)

Yes, we are all still here, I've just been really slack about updating my blog page. I haven't even taken any pictures of my kids for like two weeks! (Gasp!) So, I don't really have any fun ones to share :( Let's see, what interesting stuff has been happening around here.... Eli is almost crawling and has two teeth, which he likes to use to try to bite fingers off... Cosette used the potty yesterday :) :) ..... she can also put her own socks and shoes on now, which is, surprisingly, a big blessing... it snowed a little bit the other day, and Cosette loved it. She thought it tasted funny, and she kept shivering to show me how cold it was....I burnt cookies in my oven and set the smoke detector off... Cosette likes to stand at the counter and 'help' me make dinner--actually, she's a really good taste tester....Eli gives wet sloppy kisses now, at least to his Mama.... okay, I think that's all the interesting stuff I can think of. I'll try to update this page more often, and maybe get some pictures sometime soon......maybe :)

My loving husband treated me to an evening out on Friday and tickets to hear the Maryland Symphony play at FSU. It was so nice to just sit there in the comfortable seat, listening to the orchestra warm up, watching the people walk in and be seated....no stinky diapers to change, no spit-up to clean up, no crying babies or ouchies to make better..........it was a nice night off! The orchestra was incredible, and I was reminded again of how much I love music. Sometimes it's easy to forget when all you hear is little kids songs all day long...when I try to play a classical CD or something, Cosette runs over to the CD player, says 'EEWWW!!! No!! Eewww!!!!' Then she looks relieved when I put in 'If you're happy and you know it'. We've go to break her of that! Any ideas for helping a two-year old enjoy Mozart? :)

Finally, here are two of my favorite pictures from our beach vacation. We had so much fun together. We found out that going on vacation is a little different with two little ones, but in some ways, it's also much more fun! Watching Cosette discover the ocean and swim in the swimming pool, seeing her light up with pleasure when we got on the boat, taking pictures of Eli sleeping so peacefully under the beach umbrella.... all these things and more made us decide that vacation is actually more fun with little ones. We felt so blessed the whole time.

Just a quick note to let everyone know we were gone all last week to the Beach in North Carolina. It was beautiful, sunny weather, the ocean was nice and warm, and we had a blast--- are you jealous yet? :) Anyway, I'll be trying to post some pictures from that before too long. Keep checking back!
